Ariana Grande x Fortnite

A cinematic victory film built inside a video game — where winning felt like a pop moment.

Role

Creative Direction & Film Production

Concept, camera direction, editing, and post production. Shot entirely within the Fortnite engine using the Ariana Grande skin during a live match victory.

  • When Fortnite dropped the Ariana Grande collaboration, it wasn't just a skin — it was a pop cultural moment living inside a battle royale. The question was whether anyone would treat it like one creatively, or just screenshot it and move on.

  • Capture the absurdity, spectacle, and genuine magic of winning a Fortnite match as a glittery rhinestone-clad avatar of one of the biggest artists in the world — holding a gun — and turn it into something that felt like a music video, not a gameplay clip.

  • won a match, got the crown, and went back in to make a film. Which — for the record — is harder than it sounds. Winning a Fortnite battle royale means outlasting 99 other players, and doing it dressed as Ariana Grande while maintaining any sense of dignity is its own creative challenge. Real victory, cinematic intention. Close-ups on skin details. Wide shots for scale. Camera work that follows the rhythm of the moment. Set to "One Last Time" — the lyric one last time, I need to be the one to take you home reframes a battle royale elimination as something almost tender. That tension between the violence of the game and the softness of Ariana Grande is the whole joke. And the whole beauty of it.

  • A proof of concept that game engines are creative environments — and that the right creative eye can turn a victory screen into a pop moment.
